La Petite Table Marocaine cuisine combines Arab, Berber, Jewish, African, Mediterranean and European influences.

La Petite Table Marocaine takes advantage of the variety of fruits and vegetables that are organic and produced locally each seasons

The Moroccan culinary tradition dictates a certain order when serving Moroccan cuisine:

First, salads are served. These can include a mixture of raw and cooked vegetables, such as beetroots, carrots, cucumber with orange-blossom water, lemon, honney, argan and olive oil.

Aside from the salads, harira soup – made with tomatoes, lentils, chickpeas and lamb – is also a favorite starting dish on Moroccan dining tables, particularly during Ramadan.

The first main dish, which can be tagine. A tagine can be made using lamb with prunes, or chicken, either in an onion sauce with dried apricots, or with olives and potatoes.  La Petite Table Marocaine might also serve b’sara (fava bean soup) or b’stilla (a pie containing pigeon or seafood) dishes to our guests.

Couscous tends to be part of the second main dish served along with others such as rfissa (chicken with lentils and pan-fried dough).

Moroccan dishes are very often accompanied with bread

The Moroccan Library

For books and Morocco lovers, the Moroccan Library located on the ground floor is another passion that the owner of Dar Al Miraaj wish to share with guest and visitors from all around the world.  The books of the library are currently under a careful restoration process to enhance their durability so that our guests can consult them more easily during their stay with us.

Among the interesting reading materials are the 47 volumes of the academic journal Hespéris that was founded in 1921 after the creation of the Institut des Hautes Etudes Marocaines in Rabat by the French protectorate authorities and was published until 1959.

Hespéris was devoted to the study of Morocco and the dissemination of knowledge relating to its society, history, culture and the social sciences of the Muslim West to France and Europe.

The library journals and books will be open to our guests from April 2021
